About Us

RG Letourneau in the early fifties built a couple of runways with equipment manufactured at his plant to accommodate aircraft used in his business. Westinghouse Corporation later bought the company. In the late sixties, Carl Cramblett, the manager for Wabco, was instrumental in arranging for airport property to be given to the City of Toccoa and Stephens County. In January 1961, the Georgia State Legislature passed a law which established the Toccoa Stephens County Airport Authority.

The Airport Authority is charged with the responsibility to own and operate the Airport to the benefit of the community and surrounding areas.
Toccoa R.G. Letourneau field supports a number of community events that attract visitors from across the region. The largest event is the Currahee Military event help each October. It honors the Paratroopers who trained at Camp Toccoa during World War II and the famed Easy Company of HBO series Band of the Brothers. The field of Toccoa R.G. Letourneau is essential underpinning the future economic growth of this area and is ready to meet the challenge.
