Welcome to the Stephens County Historical Society website. With two new museums we encourage people of all ages to visit our facilities. The renovated train depot showcases the county's first one hundred years of history. At the same location is over 10,000 sq. feet military museum, gift shop, and reception hall. The military museum is called Currahee Military Museum after the WWII training camp located at Currahee Mountain five miles from town.

The society office and museums are located in the renovated train depot where our paratroopers first arrived in town by train, before they walked to the camp to begin their training.
